Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the Sick is the sacrament which, through the anointing with blessed oil by the priest, and through prayer, gives health and strength to the soul; and sometimes to the body of a person whose sickness, accident, or old age carries with it some danger of death.

Is any one among you sick? Let him bring in the priests of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. (James 5:14)

If anyone is in proximate danger of death, do not hesitate to contact a priest at any time of day or night. For those who will be undergoing major surgery, it is suggested that they contact the Parish Office (914) 478-2822 to have a priest anoint them.
